Protože se ukázka z představení hrála v češtině, museli jsme naše zahraniční hosty uvést do obrazu alespoň stručným popisem obou dějství.
SCENE 1 - At Zikmund´s Court
Zikmund, the emperor is moody because his back hurts.
His jester is trying to make him happier but he is not very successful.
Zikmund is angry with him and calls the executioner (hangman) who is very cruel: he tickles his victims. The jester is scared. To improve Zikmund´s mood, he presents the conjurer (the illusionist) but Zikmund is not satisfied. The jester presents the Japanese warrior. But this is not enough, that is why the jester orders to bring the Hussite. Zikmund is pleased. The executioner, the jester and the conjurer torture the Hussite to obtain information on Žižka and his soldiers. They will hear that Žižka is completely blind - this is a good piece of news for Zikmund but he is afraid that Žižka will fight inspite of his blindness. The jester and the conjurer offer a plan: they can get into Žižka´s camp in disguise as Hussites, and they can demoralize the soldiers. Zikmund accepts this offer....
SCENE 2 - At Žižka´s camp
Žižka is sitting and talking to Jan Roháč. Záviš, the financial expert, is coming.
He is angry because he heard that Žižka wants to buy new wagons. He tries to explain to Žižka that they don´t have enough money for that purchase but Žižka doesn´t listen. Žižka talks about the new wagons as if the Hussites had already had them. He plans where to locate them. The servants introduces new Hussite soldiers: Janek Kudla and Matěj Vykuk. In fact, they are the jester and the conjurer in disguise.
The Hussites are besieged by Zikmund´s army. There are three soldiers sitting (in really private matters) and complaining about bad conditions at the camp: they don´t have enough food and they miss sutleresses (military nurses) badly. Suddenly Janek Kudla (the jester) and Matěj Vykuk (the conjurer) appear. They encourage the Hussites to rebel against Žižka. They try to convince them that they have right to send for the military nurses. Together they rap about it.The strange song is heard by a mysterious character. It turns out that it is Master Jan Hus´ ghost (the predecessor of the Hussites movement who criticized the church and who was burnt to death. He is a national hero. At the moment of his revelation, he is, in fact, dead.)
The Hussite don´t recognize him first. When they realize who he is, they are astonished.
Master Jan asks them why they are so unsatisfied. The Hussites beg him to plead for them with Žižka. They convince Master Jan that they cannot fight properly without military nurses.
Master Jan agrees to talk on this matter with Žižka.
Behind the scene, the dialogue between Žižka and Master Jan is heard. Master Jan convinces
Žižka that sending for military nurses is the right thing.
The Hussites are happy and excited. At that moment Jan Roháč comes and wants the soldiers to
practise throwing stones. Záviš is annoyed because the stones are supposed to be used at the battle. There is no money for new stones. Jan Roháč cheers Záviš up with his plan - to use natural products as new ammunition. He plans to use frozen excrements. Záviš likes the plan because this ammunition is for free and there is a lot of it at the camp! He leaves the scene satisfied and allows the soldiers to use normal stones for their drill. 3 Hussites are practising throwing stones under Jan Roháč´s commandment....
Here the exctract of the play finishes.... The rest of the play will have been finished by the middle of April 2004.... (P.S.: The authors of the play didn´t mean to offend anybody, they are just making fun of "serious historical events and heroes".)
