Persons involved in the project: main coordinators were 4 teachers and 20 students, other teachers and students were also involved, it was an all-school project
The topic of the second year of the project Socrates 2004-05 was roots of sports, dance, and football. Moreover, we focused on the cooperation with our partnership schools. Unfortunately, this year was without the Italian school as they missed the deadline of submitting. Nevertheless, they joined us at the workshop in Germany and we stayed in touch. In the school year 2005-2006, they will participate again and in September 2005, we are going to arrange an exchange project in Klášterec nad Ohří. We are going to meet 25 students and 3 teachers from partnership school Liceo Europeo – Bambin Ges from Italian Fermo which proves that the third year of this project is not the final one for our cooperation.
This year’s work on the project begun in Septemeber 2004. We choose a group of students who we would meet regularly on Fridays.
The first workshop took place in Reykjavik in Iceland from October 9 to October 17.Three teachers from our school visited Iceland and they came back excited. They could see a beautiful country and they learnt much about its history, culture, and life style of Icelanders. There, the new theme and technique of work were agreed. We had decided to work on the roots of football and dance.
We were lucky because there was an exhibition of history of football in National Museum in Prague, and we decided to go there. On February 2 2005, we visited Prague. The name of the exhibition was Football 1934-2004. We took some pictures of it and we camera recorded our visit and made a short English subtitled film which can be seen on our websites www.gymkl.cz . All the work is attached to this report. We also presented this film at the third workshop in Klášterec nad Ohří.
The second workshop took place in Geithain from March 9 to March 12 2005. Two teachers and three students went there and visited a cloister Wechselburg, city Leipzig and joined some classes of math, German and English. There also was a sports afternoon: swimming in a pool Bad Lausick, German students showed some dances and cycle ball and in the end, everybody played volleyball. At this workshop, we agreed that we would also write and publicize some facts about results of our sport students. We found it very useful as our students learnt about their successful schoolmates. Again, we placed all the on our websites. We also worked on the topic dances. A t first we found out how many dance courses are attended by our students. We were surprised how many of them members of a dance club are. For our foreign colleagues we explained what it is dance course and graduation ball as we thought this is special for our country and it belongs to our history.
We had been preparing a dance show for couple of months. This was a show of dance clubs and groups from our town. We could also see some amateur performances of our students. This show took place in The Cultural House in Klášterec nad Ohří during the third workshop which was held from May 2 to May 5, 2005.Edited record, our students´ work, is enclosed with this report.
At this final meeting, all the schools presented their work; we took part in an aerobic lesson, specially held for us, played bowling, and toured the capital Prague.
Within this project, a volleyball tournament was held: 1st year of Spring Klášterec Voleyball and is expected to become traditional.
On June 28, three of our teachers and the headmaster met our German coleagues once more. We evaluated the project, were discussing the following year, picked up the final products and receipts and materials for financial report.
Besides all these experiences and unforgettable memories, we have the final products: a sports bag, volleyball jerseys, both with logo Socrates which is another way of presenting this project. In addition, like last year, we all published a book about our work in this school year. I suppose, this year was full of new experiences, we made new friends, learnt about habits in all participated countries, we could see their memorabilia, their schools, extended our vocabulary and improved in multimedia elaborating of acquired information. All this could happen thanks to financial support from NA Socrates and hard work of our teachers and students.
We would like to thank you and we are looking forward to our next cooperation in the third year.
