The devil occurs in our landscape only seldom. However, one his occurrence is interesting. It explains the rise a mushroom which is spread in Krušné hory enough. It is called "chicks".
In the mountain hamlet, it was told that in times of old, the little son of the hell often had wandered in Krušné hory which were covered by the dense virgin forest. One day in the evening, he was so weary as to lie down uder the old pine on soft pine-needles and he fell asleep. He slept according to the satan manner; his face was turned to the ground. In the night, the horrible thunderstorm rushed and a lightning hit the tree under which our devil slept satisfiedly. The devil was scared and he jumped up. However, his thick beard was interwined with the pine-needles on which he slept, it was tore off by the intense jerk and it stayed in the ground. The benefical rain caused afterwards that the beard struck root from which our mushroom grew up.
The locals called it "devil's beard". The valley in which this occurence happened reputedly was called "Pekelské". It may be that beatiful valley by Málkov.
